About Me

I am a mid twenty female who began her recovery of bulimia and anorexia in 2011.  I have just now felt that I am able to share my story and journey publicly.

I have been diagnosed with Bulimia Nervosa with Anorexia tendencies.  My Bulimia dates back 8 years while dieting and restricting have been since I was 9 years old.

In November 2011 I decided that I needed help and that living life with my head in the toilet was not life at all. Here I began bodybuilding. At the time I did not realize that this was fuelled by my eating disorder. I was in a strict diet and exercise regime for three months. I was proud of myself for sticking to my plan. I also have a whole three months without binge or purging. Three months in, and 4 weeks out of my competition date, my body stopped functioning.  My hair was falling out, blood tested showed liver, kidney and heart failures.  This terrified me. I immedialtly told my trainer and stopped the competition.  However I was not prepared for the fear of food to still remain. I was terrified to gain weight.

January 2012 I moved out.  Binge-purging game back with revenge. Up to 20 times a day. My life was ruled by my eating disorder. I seeked councelling at school for the first time, and I was refered to an eating disorder specialist consellor.

March 2012 I began seeing my specialist councellor regualarly. This began to help, but it was hard work and exhausting. Most of the sessions I would leave and be so mad with her that I swore I would never go back.

July 2012 my councellor had convinced me to apply for residential treatment.

August 2012 I was accepted and on the waiting list for residential treatment. I was terrified.

March 2013 I went to residential treatment.

June 2013 I graduated my treatment. And continued home.

Now I am a Certified Kinesiologist, Personal Trainer and Behavioural Interventionist.

This is my story – This is life as a recovering Bulimic.
